AWARENESS SESSION ON WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY: 31 MAY 2023 - NATIONAL CADET CORPS
(NCC)
National Cadet Corps (NCC) of SFS college conducted an awareness session and a rally on the occasion of
World No Tobacco Day on 31th May 2023. Around 25 cadets participated in the session. The awareness
session educated the college students about the impact of tobacco on one's health.
A tobacco addiction can have fatal consequences without treatment. Tobacco use can cause: cancers of
the lungs, throat, and mouth. heart disease. Tobacco production has a significantly greater devastating
effect on ecosystems because tobacco farmlands are more prone to desertification (loss of biological
productivity) in comparison to other agricultural activities such as maize growing and livestock grazing. In addition, growing tobacco requires heavy use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides that might result in the depletion of soil fertility, resulting in reducing the production of other food crops.
The Cadets marched with placards and chanting slogans throughout the area, gathered in a nearby bus stop and educated the general public by spreading awareness on World No Tobacco Day. This activity
was a great opportunity to raise awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use. This
awareness activity under the guidelines of our ANO Capt. Sampath Kumar R. was recognized and
published in newspapers by media companies namely ‘ಸಂಜೆ ವಾಣಿ’, ‘ಈ ಸಂಜೆ’ and ‘ಸಂಜೆ ಸಮಾಚಾರ’. The
cadets thanked (CO) Col. M.R Suresh, (AO) Lt.Col. Ravindra Singh and our ANO Capt. Sampath Kumar.R
for providing such opportunities to conduct such awareness activities.
