EXTENSION ACTIVITIES
‘Service to the society’ has been the motto of our College since its inception and toimbibe the same among the students, the college regularly conducts many socialoutreach programmes in collaboration with government agencies and NGOs. Aspart of the social outreach programmes, the students organize awarenesscampaigns through rallies and street plays on pertinent issues like child abuse,corruption, environment, organ donation, prevention of sexual harassment ofwomen, aids awareness, cancer awareness, prevention of Dengue, anti-pollution,drugs abuse and trafficking, prevention of tobacco consumption, save rivers, savesnakes, animal protection etc.
Students organize eco-sustainability drives like waste management and disposal, e-waste management, water conservation, tree plantation. The students visit old agehomes, orphanages and government schools and hospitals. They organize healthcheck-up camps, dental and eye check-up camps, blood donation camps and self-defense classes for women for the underprivileged people of the society.Engagement of the students in these community service initiativeshelp them toconnect with the society and sensitize them on various issues related to theirimmediate surrounding so that they become harbingers of a positive change in thesociety.
Village Adoption
The NCC unit of our College adopted Bijjlahatti Village and conducted thefollowing activities:
◉ Distributed study materials for Government primary school
◉ Planting of saplings activity
◉ Waste management and cleanliness drive
◉ Free eye check-up camp followed by the distribution of free spectacles to thepeople. Awareness programmes are a part and parcel of college activities.
Voter's awareness programme is conducted regularly in order to makepeople aware of their voting rights, right to choose their own representativesand to fight against the malpractices that take place during election.
Every year the college conducts Traffic Awareness programme in associationwith the traffic police.
The Red Cross Cell of our college in association with the Indian Red CrossSocietyorganizes Blood donation Camp every year.
The NSS and NCC students participate in the National pulse polio programme.
The students actively participate in various Swatch Bharat campaigns that entail
cleaning public places like bus stop, railway stations, government schools, public
parks, statues etc. Through various public awareness rallies and street plays, the
students create awareness about the importance of keeping the environment clean.
Connecting with the Underprivileged
Our students frequently visit old age homes and orphanages and
distribute food items and clothes to the old people and orphans. The
students show their love and affection to them by spend quality time with
them, helping them in their daily routine and cleaning their surroundings.
They also bring smile on their faces by entertaining them through various
programmes.
Annual NSS camp is conducted every year. Students visit remote
villages to promote literacy and create awareness about health and
sanitation.
In collaboration with few hospitals health camps are conducted. Special
attention is given towards women’s health by conducting programme on
breast cancer check-up.
‘Green campus drive’ and several other initiatives have been taken up
by the students of the college. The residents around the college are also
involved in promoting waste management, segregation and clean city
campaigns.
The College has been awarded ‘Best Institution’ Award for being the
best NCC Unit all over Karnataka and Goa Directorate. We also take
pride in receiving this award consecutively from the last few years.
