TREKKING TO SHIVAGANGE BETTA: 18 DECEMBER 2022 – NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC)
A trekking to Shivagange Betta was organised on 18 th December 2022, by NCC SFS College
Hebbagodi. Around 180 NCC cadets, Rangers and Rovers and KCD wardens took part in the trekking.
Shivagange is a mountain peak with a height of 1,368 metres (4,488 ft.) and Hindu pilgrimage centre
located near Dobbaspet, in Bengaluru Rural District India. The hill is a very sacred place and widely
worshipped. It is also known as Dakshina Kashi (Kashi of the South) and has various temples such as
Gangadhareshwara Temple, Sri Honnammadevi Temple, Olakal Teertha, Nandi Statue, Patalagange
Sharadambe Temple and several theerthas such as Agasthya Theertha, Kanva Theertha, Kapila
Theertha, Pathala Gange. All these temples are located inside the caves.
NCC cadets and other wardens had a great time by enjoying the nature's beauty and acknowledging
the mesmerizing facts of the hill. It took approximately 5 - 6 hours to climb and return back from the
hill. This trekking was a great success in the guidance of our ANO Capt. Sampath Kumar R. The
students thanked CO Col.B S Dhami, AO Lt .Col. Ravindra Singh and ANO Capt. Sampath Kumar R for
granting permission to conduct such an adventurous activity.
