Visit to Snehadaan on Republic Day: NEDA and Dept of Sociology – Jan 26, 2019

On our Republic Day the 26th of January, 2019, around 40 students of the North East Desalite Association (NEDA) and the Department of Sociology of St. Francis De Sales College came together for a community outreach program under the leadership of the student body representatives and their coordinators Mrs. Elizabeth and Ms. Smita to Sneha Care Home and the Shining Star School in Snehadaan, Carmelaram (Sarjapura Road). Children between the ages of 5 years to 13 years infected with HIV positive live under the care of the Camillian Fathers. The home is a residential school that meets the educational, nutritional and shelter needs of children with dysfunctional families and/or with no living parents.

On this great day when the nation celebrated the governance for the people, by the people and for the people, the students conducted skits and games and interacted with the boys and girls of Sneha Care Home. Fr. Roy, the Principal and Fr Jijo, the Vice Principal felicitated the winners of the games with prizes and cheer.

"Learning to live with our community and providing services to all" was the crux of the outreach. The programme was a very moving experience for all the students.
