PROFESSIONAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME (PEP) PART I: 10 DECEMBER 2021 – DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE/ACME

Professional Enrichment Programme (PEP) was introduced by the Department of Commerce from the year 2021-2022. The main objective of Professional Enrichment Programme (PEP) is to enrich the knowledge of the faculties to share the knowledge in the field of research. This program was conducted on 10 th November 2021. Prof. Chitra, from St. Francis De Sales College has taken this session. In this session the resource person has shared about Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).

The SPSS software package was created for the management and statistical analysis of social science data. It was originally launched in 1968 by SPSS Inc., and was later acquired by IBM in 2009. SPSS is used to store values from the field. It looks like a spreadsheet where both quantitative and qualitative information collected from the field can be entered. This information can also be organized and stored for future use or analysed. It converts raw data to something that can be explained through different outputs. It is used to transform the data so as to check the validity of the test. It has a built-in ability to test the data hence save you from tedious calculations. It is used to calculate the relationship between data types. Chi-square tests help to establish a relationship between two factors. Z-test and t-tests parts of the SPSS are verified using the ANOVA is one way in which the SPSS carries out the comparison of different means of findings.
