SFS College celebrated National Library Week from 14 th to 20 th November 2022. The celebrations can
be traced to a practice initiated by Shri I V Ramayya, recognized as the “Architect of Public Library
Movement of India”. Indian Library Association (ILA) declared November 14 as the National Library
Day. Since1968, 14 th to 20 th November is being celebrated as the “National Library Week” all over
India and various programs are held to enhance public awareness about libraries. National library
week is an annual celebration, highlighting the valuable role of libraries, librarians and library
workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities and boost to promote the
reading habits among the students.
Our college library celebrated National Library Week drawing the attention of several students.
Libraries play a pivotal role in igniting young minds. Our focus is on bringing students back to the
library through activities that appeal to them. As part of that, Book review, book talk (encourages
people to select a book for a particular session and build a conversation and vocabulary around it),
drawing, collage, book mark making and new books arrival (to inform and invite readers to read the
just arrived) were held. Students from the various disciplines participated with zeal and enthusiasm.
