VIDEO MAKING ACTIVITY ON THE OCCASION OF INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY: 21 FEBRUARY 2023 - KNOWLEDGE CENTRE, SFS COLLEGE

International Mother Language Day is celebrated every year on 21st February. UNESCO first declared it on November 17, 1999. Knowledge Centre, SFS College celebrated International Mother Language Day on 21 st February 2023. On this occasion our college library organized video making activity about mother language day. Students and faculty members were informed to use their mother tongue and record the video. Around 30 students and 12 faculty members participated from various departments of UG and PG. More than 25 languages that are spoken in India, were used to make the video.

The key purpose of celebrating this day is to promote the awareness of language and the importance of multilingualism and cultural diversity throughout the world. Mother tongue is the language that a child gets to hear after birth and helps give a definite shape to our feelings and thoughts. Learning the mother tongue is also crucial for improving other critical thinking skills, second language learning, and literacy skills.
