Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed on 26th July every year to celebrate India's victory over
Pakistan in the Kargil War and pay homage to the brave martyrs behind the success of
'Operation Vijay'. The Indian Army ousted Pakistani Forces from their occupied positions on
the mountain tops of Northern Kargil, in Ladakh in 1999. 527 soldiers from the Indian Armed
Forces were martyred during the war. This day is celebrated all over India and in national
capital, New Delhi, where the Prime Minister of India pays homage to the soldiers at Amar
Jawan Jyothi at the India Gate every year.
Our cadets also visited the Amar Jawan Jyothi at Anekal Taluk and offered their tribute to
the Kargil Heroes which was followed by 2 minutes of silence for the soldiers who lost their
lives in the war.
