INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS: 22 MARCH 2022 - DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY, POSTGRADUATE CENTRE

The Department of Psychology, Postgraduate Centre conducted an activity on 22 March 2022 to commemorate International Day of Happiness. International Day of Happiness is celebrated worldwide on 20th of March every year to raise the awareness of happiness in one’s life and the overall impact it can have on one’s well-being. Our world has been facing unprecedented challenges in the COVID 19 pandemic, with people being forced to stay indoors and not meet their kin. 2022 has been seeing a brighter side with the whole world moving towards recovery and people getting back to their regular routine lives. With this thought in mind, the theme for this year’s world happiness day was “Build Back Happier”.

The activity began with the postgraduate students of the department along with the faculties visiting the postgraduate classes and discussing the importance of happiness and need of celebrating day of happiness. Following this, each student was asked to write their messages for spreading happiness and as a token, smileys were given to each of them. Students also visited the staffrooms, administrative office and messages were collected from all. Students also visited The Principal and Vice Principal’s office and they shared their messages of happiness in the sheets.

Objective of the activity was to help students understand the importance of happiness in one’s life and its role in overall well-being. This event helped everyone to remind themselves that happiness is to be celebrated and if you fail to realise happiness in your lives, days like these would remind you that it is worth a celebration. A total of 70 students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed every moment of the celebration.
