International Seminar : 24th January 2017

“INFLUENCE OF NEO-FREUDIAN THEIORIES IN 20TH CENTURY LITERATURE”

The department of Psychology & English of St. Francis de Sales College organized an International Seminar titled “ Influence of Neo-Freudian Theories on 20th Century Literature” on 24th January 2017, on the feast day of our Patron St. Francis de Sales, the patron of journalists.. The seminar had its focus on understanding the commonalities between the Neo-Freudian theories and 20th century Literature. The day had witnessed success by the presence and messages of eminent personalities from various parts of the world, the genius of Psychology and Literature. The seminar was inaugurated by the Rev Dr. Thomas C Mathew, the chief guest & the Vice Chancellor of Christ University. Dr. Darryl Britto C.V, Consultant Psychiatrist, Liverpool, U.K, was the Key Note Speaker of the day. The presence of Dr. Nirmala Vaz, the guest of honour, from JNC., Fr. Dr. Christopher Crasta, the president of the function and the Principal, Rev. Fr.Jijo Jose, the Vice Principal, Prof. Liminy Mathew, co-ordinator of the seminar and Prof. R. Gayathri, HOD, Dept of English added colour to the occasion. The day was scheduled having a session each on Psychology and English respectively. In the view of enriching the knowledge a panel discussion was held. The participants from different states highly benefited from the seminar. The seminar was wound up with a valedictory function presided over by Bro.Tom Oldenski, University of Dayton, Ohio, USA, as its chief guest. The participants received their certificates and the programme ended with national anthem.
