FIELD VISIT TO SPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA (SAI) SPORTS STADIUM, JNANA BHARATHI CAMPUS: 3 FEBRUARY 2023 – DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN COLLOBORATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE

Sports and Nutrition – an open elective subject was introduced for B. Com I semester students under the new NEP Syllabus.  Sports give more energy and enthusiasm to the students.  It is the first time the department of commerce has introduced the Sports and Nutrition subject as an Open Elective Choice subject.  This subject contains nutrition, deficiency, pre, post and during era and it includes field visit of Sports ground.  New Educational Policy envisages sports as a part of a curriculum for students, so that it is decided by the commerce department in St. Francis de Sales college to give Sports and Nutrition as one of the OEC subjects in the odd semester 2022-2023.

On February 3, 2023 around 51 students from I B. Com were taken to the Sports Authority of India (Sai) Sports Stadium, Jnana Bharathi Campus Jnana Bharathi, Bangalore along with Ms. Christina Mary, Asst. Physical Education Director and Prof. Kumar Narayan, Department of Commerce.   They were given a tour of the multi- purpose stadium with a 400m synthetic track, swimming pool, a sports complex equipped with an indoor stadium and fitness centre and dormitories rooms for sports persons to attend coaching camps, office space provided for Physical Education Directors.  They were also shown facilitates like tennis courts, badminton and yoga stadiums.

Students got a better experience after visiting the sports stadium.  This field visit helps the students to realize the importance of sports and the career opportunities that the sports members get in this field.
