FIELD VISIT TO SUSWANI MATA DHAM TEMPLE: 24 FEBRUARY 2022 – THE DESALITE

HUMANITIES (BA)
The Desalite History Association (DHA) in collaboration with the Department of Humanities
organised a field trip on 24 th February 2022 to Suswani Mata Dham temple located at Surana Nagar,
Balegaranahalli, Hosur Road, Attibele Karnataka. The objective of the visit is to create awareness
about the importance of art and architecture of the Jain Temple which is constructed out of
Jaisalmar stones with the basic principles and teaching of Jainism. The most outstanding feature of
Jain temples architecture is its carvings and understatement. In India, Jainism has influenced and
contributed to many artistic fields, including painting, sculpture, and architecture.
Sree Suswani Mata Dham is a Jain & Hindu Temple complex is beautifully carved out of red stone
and is dedicated to Suswani Mata Ji. The complex is well maintained with lush greenery. The temple
has Idols of Suswani Mara, Ambika Mata, Padmawati Mata, Gora Bhirav, Kala Bhairav. Mahalaksmi
and Saraswati Mata idol. This temple hosts the Lord Shiva family. It becomes a perfect place for
meditation with calm and serene atmosphere.
