WORKSHOP ON BUILDING SKILLS FOR EMPLOYABILITY: 12 FEBRUARY 2023 - PSYLIGHT

Psylight Club, Department of Psychology, PG Centre organized a workshop on Building
Skills for Employability on 12 February 2023. The agenda of the workshop was to present
help students understand the basic skills required for employability. With the growing
demand for job and stress that employees go through, it is important to focus on the basic
skills that employees must possess in order to firstly acquire a job and then to adjust and
continue with the job.
The session started with a small introduction on the significance of National Youth Day. It
was explained how Vivekananda emphasized on work and how he influences and inspires
people even today. Four skills were focused on during the session – Leadership, teamwork,
adaptability, and stress management. Each of the skills were supported by activities to help in
better understanding of the students
At the end of the session it was taught that how in a setup we end up taking initiatives like a
leader or start following someone unconsciously considering them as a leader. The concept of
leadership as well as teamwork and its importance in occupational setup was explained. The
students were then briefed on adaptability and the importance of the same. At workplace, one
must ensure that they interact with other colleagues and adapt to the environment in order to
sustain in any organization.
The topic of stress was introduced. The students were explained on the various reasons for
stress in workplace and how to handle such stress along with the importance of time
management and cooperation. The workshop gave a broad overview of occupational skill
requirements and how people must also build them sift skills along with
professional/technical skills.
