Two Day National Level Online Workshop on Python: 5 th to 6 th May 2021 – Department of Science
Python is an interpreted high-level general-purpose programming language. Pythons design
philosophy emphasizes code readability with its notable use of significant indentation. Its language
constructs as well as its object-oriented approach aim to help programmers write clear, logical code
for small and large-scale projects. The Department of Science conducted an online two-day
workshop on python under the support of Research and IP Cell from 5 th to 6th May 2021 at 3:00 PM.
The main objective of the workshop was to familiarise the beginners in Python on its installation,
command and programs.
The resource person, Dr. Shivasharanappa Sigarkanti who is an Associate Professor at Department of
Mathematics, Government First Grade College, K.R. Puram, is an expert in handling the
programming language. He has proven record of his expertise in explaining the mathematical
concepts like the Weddle’s rule, Simpson’s rule. The mathematical approach was very clear in his
talk. There were about 100 participants registered for the workshop which a majority of under
graduate students. The most valuable outcome of this workshop was that the organisers could bring
the participants, mainly students and faculty members inside and outside Karnataka under a
platform lead by an expert like Dr. Sigarkanti and could learn or get introduced to the installation,
commands and programs of Python. As for the feedback, these two days fruitful for the participants.
