Postal Saving Scheme for Ministerial staff - 22 February, 2020 - Faculty Enrichment Cell
The Faculty Enrichment Cell organized a session on the Postal Savings Scheme for the
ministerial staff of St. Francis de Sales College on 22nd February, 2020. Catering to different
sections of the population, Post Offices have rolled out savings accounts and schemes from a
regular post office savings account, to a senior citizen savings account, etc. In line with this, the
session conducted aimed at educating the ministerial staff about the same. Prof. Mamatha,
Department of Commerce, was the resource person for the session. She extended the information
on the post office savings account and the deposit scheme provided by the post office throughout
India. She also emphasised on the beneficial scheme for individual investors who wish to earn a
fixed rate of interest by investing a significant portion of their financial assets.
Prof. Mamatha laid emphasis on how the Post office savings account is also a very helpful
scheme for those residing in rural parts of India. She had also spoken on the different schemes in
the post office - TDR (Term Deposit Receipt), RD (Recurring Deposit), SSA
(SukanyaSamriddhi) and PO MIS (Post Office Monthly Income Scheme). The session
enlightened the ministerial staff on the postal savings schemes and its importance.
