National Webinar on Start- Up India – Opportunities and Challenges for Young Entrepreneurs: 19 th May 2021 – Department of Commerce
ACME - Association of Commerce and Managerial Excellence , an association of the Department of
Commerce had organized a 2 day National Level Webinar on Start- Up India – Opportunities and
Challenges for Young Entrepreneurs under the leadership of Prof. Druva Kumar K S – the HOD of
Commerce and Prof. Johnson Pereira – Coordinator of Commerce. The topic for discussion on Day-1
was “Contemporary Trends In Investment Management & Start – Ups”. Dr. Varun Bhushan from the
Dept of Economics, Delhi University was the resource person for the day.
This National webinar was organized for the faculty as well as research scholars throughout the
Nation. A total of 125 participants attended on the first day. The objectives were - to examine the
opportunities for start-ups in India under the flagship initiative Start-up India. To analyze the
challenges/obstacles on the way of start-ups in India and to assess an Entrepreneurial eco-system
that can nurture and encourage Start-ups.
According to ASSOCHAM study, India is home to the third largest number of technology-driven start-
ups in the world. For India to capitalize the demographic window of opportunity, the economy has
to generate sufficient job opportunities that can productively absorb working age population. The
speaker went forth to explain the situation in India and discussed about the Opportunities for Start-
ups, Data Connectivity as well as the Start-up Mindset of young entrepreneurs. He concluded the
presentation with the Challenges faced by the Young Entrepreneurs.
