FIELD VISIT TO NIMHANS BRAIN MUSEUM: 12 MAY 2023 - THE DEPARTMENT OF
HUMANITIES
The Department of Humanities organized a field visit for the first year (second semester) BA
students to the NIMHANS, Brain Museum on the 12th of May 2023. There were 20 students who
accompanied the faculty.
The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) is a multidisciplinary
institute for patient care and academic pursuit in the field of mental health and neurosciences. A
special feature of this Institute since its inception is the combination of research and training with
promoter, preventive and curative aspects of clinical services in Mental Health and Neurosciences.
NIMHANS’ Neuropathology department has been collecting brain specimens to use them in training
their students
The research staff at the museum explained on detail the functions of the brain and showed the
students models and specimens of human brain. Students attended the session very keenly and
were curious to ask many questions. The staff also showed other organs in the human body and
explained the functioning and various parts of it in detail which made the session very informative.
