Rastriya Ekatha Diwas / National Unity Day was held at St Francis De Sales Degree College on 31stOctober 2019. A Walkathon was conducted in order to spread awareness regarding “Run for Unity”. The Deputy Superintendent of Police K Nanjunde Gowda along with Police Staff of Hebbagodi Police Station ,65 NCC Cadets & 25 KCD Wardens along with our ANO Lt. Sampath Kumar R participated in this.

National Unity Day is commemorating the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Iron Man of India” who played an instrumental role in India’s struggle for Independence and later during the integration of the country. The walkathon meant to aim at promoting awareness and about the day. A session was conducted regarding the origin and significance of the day. A quiz competition was organized to help the Cadets to acquire knowledge regarding the same. By the end of it, Cadets pledged to always stay united and secular citizens of the nation.

“National Unity Day was introduced by the Government of India in 2014. The official statement for National Unity Day by the Home Ministry of India cites that the National Unity Day - will provide an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country."
