INFINITY: GUEST LECTURE SERIES - UTILITY OF ECONOMICS: 26 OCTOBER 2021 - DEPARTMENT OF HUMANITIES IN COLLABORATION WITH RESEARCH AND IP CELL

The Department of Humanities in collaboration with Research and IP Cell organized INFINITY- One Week Guest Lecture Series from 25-10-2021 till 30-10-2021. The Infinity guest lecture series focuses on nurturing the research culture among the under graduate students of St Francis De Sales College.

As a part of the guest lecture, on 26-10-2021, the Department organized a two-hour session for Economics with the topic “UTILITY OF ECONOMICS.” The session was handled by Dr. Rama Krishna, Principal, Govt First Grade College, Anekal, Bangalore. He addressed the students with varied information in the field of Economics. His major focus was on the importance of Economics and how can we individuals utilize the same. He had explained the scenario of economists in today’s world. He had inspired students with his talk and gave a lot of inputs. His words of wisdom encouraged students to gain lots of interests in the field. He enriched the students with major points regarding the utility and the scope of economics. Students had their own concerns and doubts regarding the field which were diluted by him.

The major objectives of the guest lecture series are to make the students understand and analyse the performance and functioning of the government, markets and institutions in the context of social and economic problems. To elaborate the use of economic models in domestic and global contexts to analyse individual decision making, how prices and quantities are determined in product and factor markets, and macroeconomic outcomes and to think critically about economic models, evaluating their assumptions and implications
