17 MAY 2023 - DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE
The Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM) Bangalore, India, a constituent unit of
the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was
established in memory of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. Around 126 students from the department of science
(I and II year) visited the museum to understand the mechanics behind the technology.
First floor of the museum contains engine section. In this section mainly they have displayed
evolution of science especially levers, tools, gears, evolution of clocks, sewing machines, typewriters,
telephones and printing machines. In the second floor there are two sections for space technology
and Bio technology departments. In this departments, they have shown the rare pics of
astronauts. In the Bio technology section, they had displayed charts about cells in the blood,
development of cells, tissues etc. Electronics department is in the third floor. They had also clearly
explained how microchips are prepared and how programs are inserted into it. They also show the
video of that preparation of microchips.
Science show and 3D fun shows were conducted by the museum to gain more knowledge by
students. Students excitedly watched the science show which is a large spherical visualization system
that uses multimedia projections to display animated data onto the exterior of a sphere converting it
into an immersive animated globe that shows dynamic, animated images of the atmosphere, oceans,
and land area of a planet. It is an innovative and powerful teaching tool to enhance informal
education on earth, climate change etc. and transform the public perception to effectively
implement conservation measures of the earth. Experiences, such as visiting a museum, can
also become a meaningful part of one's identity and contribute to successful social relationships.
