Discussion on Information as a Public Good: May3, 2021 – Department of Humanities
The Department of Humanities in Association with the Flair Press organised a group discussion in
connection with the “WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY’’ celebrated on the 3rd of May 2021. The debate
was on a global theme “Information as a Public Good”. The major objective in conducting the
debate was to bring in awareness among the students on the Freedom of Press, Celebrate the
fundamental principles of press freedom, Assess the state of press freedom throughout the world
and to Pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Discussion is one of the academic activities that give students artistic room to express what they
feel. The length and breadth of knowledge that they gain through this is unparalleled. Both IV SEM
CJP and IV SEM BA JPE students participated through online platform. The teams were well prepared
and undoubtedly convinced the audience of their beliefs and views. The participants made their
arguments more emphatic with their righteous facial expressions and voice modulation. They
exhibited great oratory skill. The programme was an enthralling experience for the speakers as well
as the audience.
