Student National Seminar - “Cultivating English Language and Literature beyond the Digital World:
A Humane Perspective”: 11 June, 2021 – Department of English and Research & IP Cell
The department of English in collaboration with Research and IP Cell had conducted Student
National Webinar on the topic “Cultivating English Language and Literature beyond the Digital
World: A Humane Perspective” on 11 June, 2021. This Webinar focused its attention to intensify the
students research spirit, improve language skills, increase the critical thinking skills, to gain
experience in the critical assessment of the available scientific literature and to help the students
practice the use of various resources to locate and extract information using offline and online tools.
Keynote speaker of the day was Dr. S Robert Gnanamony, former dean at School of Liberal Arts and
Special Education Kalasalingan University. He has published two books and 69 Articles in various
journals. The judges for the Paper Presentation were Dr. Hemavathi B S, Assistant Professor Govt
First Grade College, Channapatna, and Dr. Tharini Prabhakaran, Asst. Professor (PG), St. Francis de
Sales College, Bangalore. Rev. Dr. Roy, Principal of St. Francis de Sale College, faculty members from
the department of English, presenters and the participants from various colleges were present for
the webinar.
The session by the keynote speaker was followed by the paper presentation. There were 17
presenters who presented with different titles on the given topic. Ms. Ambika Sen bagged the best
presenter award on her topic “Gender and Popular Culture: The Portrayal of Women in Indian
Cinema”. Thus, the Students’ National webinar was successfully conducted. Dr. Madhuramozhi V,
the coordinator of the Department of English took initiative along with Dr. Noor, Dr. Sheeba, Prof.
Archana, Prof. Francis Lopez, Prof. Umamaheshwari and Prof. Evangeline Richard to conduct and
organize the event.
