WEBINAR ON CAREER GUIDANCE: 14 JUNE 2022 - DEPT. OF PSYCHOLOGY &
DEPT. OF ECONOMICS, POSTGRADUATE CENTRE
Career Guidance is a counselling programme designed to help students choose the right
career path based on their educational and professional choices. It has qualitative and
quantitative assessment of the knowledge, skills, information, and experience to identify
career options available Students need career guidance to explore and plan for future career
endeavours based on their individual interests, skills and values. Participation in career
guidance enhances linkage of academic and career experiences and thus, improves career
preparation and management. By the time students reach postgraduation stage, they have
identified the choice of their career. Path is known, but the ways and means to reach their
goals might not be clear. PG Centre at SFS regularly initiates to provide guidance to choose
the right, successful path. Dept. of Psychology and Dept. of Economics of Postgraduate
Centre jointly organized Career Guidance- Online session for Psychology and Economics
students.
Prof. Bhanu from Surana College was the Resource Person. She has vast experience in the
field of Career counselling and Industrial sector. Students were present the classroom.
Arrangements were made to see in big screen and listen to the session. Students had
individually logged in for the session too. The resource person was introduced. She began the
session by getting information from students about their knowledge about career
opportunities. Later she briefed about importance of the subjects in the real world. Each
career options were explained in detail. References were also given to students. Practical
approach of getting jobs were briefed. Sources to build careers and techniques to look for
opportunities were explained. Students had several queries about career options in various
fields. All queries were answered, which further lead to more discussion. The session was
concluded by expressing our gratitude for the wonderful session handled by Prof. Bhanu.
