E-waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the world and its management is one of the biggest environmental challenges of our time. This waste stream consists of electrical or electronic items that have been discarded by their users, whether they are reusable, repairable, recyclable or destined for disposal in landfill sites. Environmental waste management is crucial not only in maintaining the cleanliness of our surroundings but also keeping the good health of the people. This requires logical and meticulous planning because a lot is at stake – and the effectiveness of this process will benefit everyone as well. On this thought, an online session was conducted on e-waste management. DETAILS OF THE RESOURCE PERSON For this event, Vijaya Raghavan from ‘Sahas zero waste’ was the resource person. Formerly a projector coordinator at bE-responsible initiative PFC and currently associated and actively working in ‘Sahas zero waste’ organisation. He has completed his MA in Rural Development and Governance from Tata Institute of Social Sciences Hyderabad and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from Madras university. He has given many seminars on e-waste management. OUTCOME Students were enlightened on current situation on problem of e-waste management and were informed about the need and various ways of e-waste management. Back |
