ROBOTICS WORKSHOP BY THE DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE

The IC club by the Department of Electronics organised a workshop on “Robotics” for the V semester BSc (MEC) students in the Electronics lab on 25th of September 2019. The facilitators of the workshop were Mrs. Smrutee Markhedkar, Asst. Professor & Head of Department of Science and Mr. Ahmed Sheikh, Lab instructor. The main objective of the training was to equip the undergraduate students to explain the basic principles of robotics through a working model design and to provide an exposure to different kinds of robots.

There is something about robotics that inspires and intrigues. Robotics is one of the most innovative and promising technologies that is going to find its place in almost all the applications of future. Hence, students should start learning robotics and develop an understanding on this technology. Mechanical parts, sensors and actuators, control units, LDRs / photo diodes, IR sensors, ultrasonic sensors, thermistors, PIR sensors, microcontrollers, controllers - students learned about the practical implementations of all basics and how they work. After the introduction and some demo videos they moved to on to design a working model for the students to help them understand the concept and to capture their interest in robotics. The working model was later used in the inaugural ceremony of Razzmatazz 2019 (Inter College Fest).
