ANKURAM 2023 - STUDENT NATIONAL SEMINAR ON THE ROLE OF SCIENCE IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENT: 23, 24 JUNE 2023 – DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE RESEARCH CELL
Ankuram 2023 - Student National Seminar was conducted on 23 rd and 24 th of June 2023 on
the topic “The Role of Science in Sustainable Development of the Environment”. The
seminar will focus on nurturing the research culture among post-graduate as well as graduate
students through paper presentations.
Science is extremely diverse but converging and overlapping. Considering the importance of
science and mathematics in today’s world, it becomes essential to undertake scientific global
inquiries in various aspects. This seminar is a crucial step of the Department of science, St.
Francis de Sales College towards bringing various branches of science and mathematics
together.
Day 1: 23/06/2023
Technical Session 1: The technical talk on Standards & Quality Parameters by the members
of BIS were explained. They detailed about the structure of Indian standards. Later a topic
was given to students to write standards. 53 standard club members participated in the
competition. The written standards were evaluated by the resource persons and prizes and
certificates were given to students.
Technical Session 2: The Technical session 2 opened with the welcome to BIS members
from our college. There were two poster presentations on Indian Standards by them.
Day 2: 24/06/2023
Technical Session 3: This year, Ankuram 2023 could bring the students before the
mindfulness of a resource person like Dr S Bhavani, Assistant Professor, PES University, RR
Nagar, Bangalore. She finished her PhD in thin polymer electrolyte films and published 14
research papers in various International Journals. Dr Regimol G George guided the students
as session co-chair for offline session. Also, in order to improve the efficacy of the online
evaluation for best presentation and best paper, review committee assisted the entire sessions.
Later on Dr S Bhavani took over a session through a keynote address. Dr S Bhavani
explained about the (0.1) 365 theory very well. The keynote address was followed by oral
presentations by the student participants. There were 13 presentations under Technical
session 3. All the presentations were based on the theme and subthemes given by the
department.
Technical Session 4: The Technical session 4 opened with the welcome and introduction of
two session chairs. The session had oral presentations by students and there were a total of 14
presentations. All the presentations were based on the theme and subthemes given by the
department.
At the end Mounika S, Kanaka & Yakshith of VI Sem BSc(PCM) was announced as the best
presenter and St. Francis de Sales College, Bangalore was announced as the best presenter at
the end of the session. The participants were requested to submit the feedback form through
the link provided through mail.
