Incomplete Applications will not be processed.
• The Applicant should be personally present for Admission along with the Parent / Guardian.
• The candidate should satisfy all other conditions set by Bangalore University.
• After the counselling/interview, the candidates selected shall be enrolled after the payment of fee as per the fee structure. Final Admission is subject to the University's approval.
• No Transfer from one discipline to any other is permitted.

Conditions pertaining to submission of documents
• At the time of admission, candidates must submit all the original documents, copies and other relevant documents as well as a hard copy of the completed application form.
• Students should ensure that they keep a photocopy of the documents for themselves before submitting the same to the Academic Office/Admission Department.
• The original documents submitted will be returned to the students only after the university registration or at the end of the program.
• In order to take back these documents, student must produce the documents’ acknowledgement receipt received during the time of admission.

1.“Building skills for tomorrow: CSR internship orientation

The orientation was conducted online. The session was done for an hour. The session began with a warm welcome from the CSR team who highlighted the importance of technical skills in today’s job.it gave us the information about the course and timeline for each.it familiarize participants with core concept of java full stack and cloud computing. provided us a foundational understanding of CSR internship program. the session aimed to provide insights into skills required, the structure of the internship, and the opportunities available for aspiring the developers. Attending this session has strengthened understanding of the internship value and has motivated us to purse this opportunity.


2.“Report on Alumni Interaction 2024-25”

The alumni interaction program at St. Francis De Sales College aimed to guide and mentor BCA 1st-year students in their academic and professional journey. The session, led by resource persons Mr. Ricky Peter and Ms. Bhavana, both alumni of the college and currently working in the IT industry, focused on addressing the students' confusion regarding course selection within the BCA program. With three courses to choose from, students often find it challenging to make an informed decision, and this interaction sought to provide clarity and insights from experienced professionals who have navigated similar paths.

4. GRADUATE PROGRESSION, Career Catalyst: “ESSENTIAL SOFT SKILLS FOR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH”

The session was held in De Sales Hall at our college for BCA and BSc 5th semester students. In the session, students were introduced to the Tata Power group, exploring its history and operations, as well as the importance of developing soft skills in today’s job market. The speaker discussed key HR functions such as recruitment and selection, detailing the steps involved and the significance of drafting a strong CV. The session focused on interviewing techniques. Various types of interviews, including formal, informal, panel, sequential, group, situational, and phone or video call interviews, were discussed. Students engaged in discussions about common interview questions and the importance of preparation. Practical tips were shared, such as researching the job description and dressing appropriately for interviews. The session also centered on behavioral skills, highlighting their importance for job satisfaction and success. Students learned about effective communication, goal setting, and teamwork. It concluded with a discussion on the importance of intelligence quotient (IQ), emotional quotient (EQ), spiritual quotient (SQ) needs for a balanced approach to professional growth.


5.Report on Navigating Values: Ethics in the Modern World

The program explores the role of ethics in various aspects of modern life, including technology, business, healthcare, and social media, and develops critical thinking skills to evaluate complex ethical dilemmas. The program also fosters a sense of responsibility and accountability for one's actions, encourages participants to apply ethical principles in their personal and professional lives, and provides a platform for students to share their thoughts and concerns about ethics and values.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to navigate their own values and understand how they impact their behavior and relationships, and apply ethical principles to real-world scenarios, making informed decisions that balance individual and collective interests.


6.“Skills for Success in the IT Industry: A First year Perspective”

The tech talk was structured to promote active learning and engagement among the students. Farheen Farhath initiated the session with an informative presentation, highlighting key skills such as programming, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and continuous learning that are vital in the IT industry. To make the session more engaging, she organized an activity where students participated in mock placement exercises. This activity simulated real-world interview scenarios and group discussions, allowing students to experience firsthand the qualities that IT companies seek during the recruitment process.

During the activity, 3 students were called onto the stage and were tasked with solving a technical problem, asked Mr. Riyaj a student among the three that whom would he select where one of them is with no skills but her academic performance are more than 90% and other is with above average and with abundant skills. Like this the speaker conducted multiple activities by interacting with the students. This practical approach allowed students to showcase not only their technical knowledge but also their ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and think critically under pressure.


7.“FESTEMBER – 2024” “MILLENIAL TO GENZ”

FESTEMBER 2024” The Event was organized by school of science the event was held on 28-10-2024 the students initial step they created a promo video “principal reveling the theme of the event” on 25-10-2024,”Millenial to Genz” as per the theme the events are organized by the students (90s nostalgia vs gen z aesthetics) on the day of the event the principal inaugurated the theme and addressed the students and declared the “Festember 2024” school of science .students started with some science experiments and flash mob , the students were engaged the food stall, art and craft stalls, game stalls, with their creativity and innovations , both the faculty and students were visiting the stalls and encouraging the students talents and appreciating their talents. The flash mob included the mashup of songs related to (90s-20s), the fashion show enhanced the traditions and culture.


8.“Report on Bridge course Activity 2024-25”

St. Francis De Sales College organized a comprehensive Bridge Course from July 22-26, 2024, for a smooth transition into college life. The program was attended by 172 students and focused on equipping them with essential skills and knowledge. Computer basics, programming fundamentals, and social threats were covered in the meticulously crafted program. Through interactive sessions and expert guidance, students gained valuable insights into safe internet practices and best practices. The Bridge Course laid a solid foundation for their future success by addressing critical topics. It instilled confidence in students, enabling them to navigate their courses with ease and tackle challenges head-on. This pioneering initiative underscores the college's commitment to fostering academic excellence. By providing a robust platform, students can achieve their full potential and succeed in their chosen paths.

On Deeksharambam, Father Rev. Binu Edathumparambil addressed the new students, discussing vital topics including discipline and college rules. He emphasized the importance of maintaining attendance and adhering to the dress code. Additionally, he outlined the class timings and provided insights into internships and placement opportunities. Lastly, he highlighted the significance of participating in sports and cultural activities . On the first day (22-07-24) of the bridge course, which commenced at 8:30 AM, the faculty-led an introduction to computer programming, followed by a literary activity. Subsequently, department-related matters were discussed, including essential dos and don'ts.The day concluded with mentoring sessions, skill development classes, and an orientation on student support services, setting the stage for a comprehensive and supportive learning experience. The second day (23-07-24) of the bridge course began with an energizing physical activity, followed by an engaging session on Discrete Mathematics, which laid the foundation for future programming concepts. A team-building activity encouraged collaboration and bonding among students, fostering a sense of community. The day concluded with mentoring sessions and an exploration of the Number System, further solidifying mathematical fundamentals.

The third day (24-07-24) of the bridge course delved into core subjects like Calculus, Algebra Basics, and Problem-Solving Techniques, building a strong foundation in mathematics. Basic Digital Electronics introduced students to the world of technology and innovation. Alongside academics, Physical Activity, Literary Activity, and Creative Arts and Culture sessions encouraged holistic development. The day concluded with Mentoring, ExtraCurricular Activities, and an Orientation on Student Support Services, ensuring students felt supported and well-rounded. The fourth day (25-07-24) of the Bridge Course expanded students' technical skills with sessions on Data Structure, Computer Networks, Logic Gates, and Probability and Statistics. Literary Activity and Mentoring sessions continued to foster critical thinking and personalized guidance. A Technical Talk and ICT session further enhanced students' understanding of technology and its applications. Meanwhile, Creative Arts and Culture, and Physical Activity sessions ensured a balance between academic rigor and creative expression. The fifth day (26-07-24) of the Bridge Course delved into technical skills with sessions on the basics of C Programming Language, Basics of Databases, and Basic Digital Electronics. Soft Skill Training by the Commerce faculty and Mentoring sessions continued to focus on personal growth and development. Students also gained insight into alumni experiences through Alumni Interaction and learned about Internet usage and LMS Orientation for academic support. Additionally, extracurricular activities provided a platform for students to explore their interests beyond academics.


9.OUTREACH ACTIVITY

The Department of Computer Science and Applications conducted a 10-day outreach program from 18th November 2024 to 27thNovember 2024 at Hennagara Government School, engaging 15 dedicated students of BCA department. The program was designed to cater to the unique educational needs of rural, Kannada-medium school students, with a focus on improving their English language skills, technical knowledge, and overall personality development.


10.“AN INTER COLLEGIATE ONE DAY NATIONAL LEVEL WORKSHOP HYBRID MODE "UNVEILING THE AI FRONTIER: DEEP LEARNING, EXPLAINABLE AI AND EMERGENCE OF GENERATIVE MODELS””

The National level workshop was conducted both online and offline. This session was divided into 3. Students from our college as well as other college joined the online sessions and offline sessions. In the first session the speaker discussed about the foundational model of Deep learning, how it is connected to Artificial Intelligence, importance and applications of Deep learning, Introduction to Artificial Neural Networks, its advantages and disadvantages, its working process, loss function in feed forward neural networks. The second session delved into the Convolutional Neural Network, transfer learning, VGG-16 Architecture, Generative Adversial Network, its types and training the generator. The speaker demonstrated a program on Generative Neural Networks using GANLAB. The third session focused on Explainable AI, its evaluating measures, core principles, techniques and how it works and also about vector space model, Large Language Model, its applications and also regarding Generative AI, how it works and path to Generative Artificial Intelligence.

12.“AN INTERNSHIP ON DATA SCIENCE”

The internship on Data Science and Machine Learning served as a transformative experience, providing an in-depth understanding of the rapidly growing field of data science. It offered an excellent platform to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, allowing us to work on real datasets and derive meaningful insights. This opportunity not only enhanced technical skills but also encouraged innovative thinking and the ability to address practical challenges in the field. The program emphasized the importance of understanding core machine learning concepts, such as supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning, while gaining hands-on experience with popular algorithms like Linear Regression, SVM, and KNN. It also fostered proficiency in widely used tools and technologies, including Python, Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Scikit-learn, which are essential for implementing end-to-end machine learning projects.


13.KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

The Knowledge Exchange Programme (KEP) was conducted by the BCA 2nd-year and Final year students to share knowledge, skills, and insights with their juniors in the BCA 1st year. The program aimed to bridge the gap between academic concepts and practical applications by covering a range of engaging and interactive topics.

The session began with an introduction to Canvas, an intuitive design platform widely used in professional and creative fields. The 2nd year and Final year students provided a step-by-step walkthrough of the tool, explaining its features like templates, elements, and customizations for creating posters, presentations, and other visual content. The practical demonstration allowed 1st-year students to experiment with Canvas, encouraging hands-on learning and creativity.


14.Innovative Insights Video (Interdepartmental Competition)


Date of Event(s) : 22/11/2024 -30/11/2024

The competition was organized to explore and showcase the creative and technical skills of the student body. Students were assigned different topics, each requiring them to produce a video based on the theme provided. The competition was conducted online, allowing students to submit their videos through an online portal (drive link).

The students were given a registration form and could complete the registration fee of Rs 50.
