Prayan 2016 – 17

Prayan the initiation ceremony of the various associations at the college which indicates the commencement of the new academic year. On 14 th July 2016 the Chief Guest Rev. Sr Celine DSFS, the provincial of Indian Province, inaugurated the ceremony and thus giving a pleasant start for the events.

The below headers represent the different tags chosen by the respective associations.

CHAUCER’S ACADEMY

The association in the department of English is called as Chaucer’s Academy named after Chaucer, The Father of English Literature and author of ‘Canterbury Tales’. The department boast a ‘Chaucer’s Literary Club’ which provides the platform for to express creativity.

FLAIR PRESS

This is an association which was introduced from the Department of Communication and Journalism. It was initiated with the aim to sensitize the students to the scope of the media’s role in our society and to sow the seeds of ‘Freedom of expression’. The association also conducts similar events during the year to bring out the best from budding journalists of the college.

HALCYON ACADEMY

Halcyon Academy is a humble initiative of the Department of Psychology, under the banner ‘thinking, feeling, wiling and acting’. The academy conducts activities such as exhibitions, field visits, guest lecturers and presentations on various psychological issues.

ACME

The department of commerce offers tremendous avenues for the youth who desire to become the best in professional business endeavours. In the department, Undergraduates are trained professionally as well as kept abreast of the latest development and trends in business field. It also organises various types of programmes to improve life skills and leadership qualities.

CYBER SPIRITS

The Cyber Spirits is an association of the students of Computer Science Department. The association is pragmatically designed to symbolize the IT achievements and trends in the field of computer science. It caters to the student welfare and enable them Transcend through the careers in Computer Science. The department organises various seminars, workshops and guest lecturers during the year.

DESMA

This is an association of Faculty of Management and Students of the college. It was established to enable the faculties and students to appear together to achieve excellence and holistic development. It aims to promote the skills, Talents and Abilities of the students to realise their complete potentiality and to reach the objectives.

SFS KANNADA ACADEMY

It was established during the academic year 2010 – 11. The academy is involved in the promotion of Kannada language, literature and culture.

SURABHI

Surabhi is the association of the Hindi language in the college. It aims at promoting the language and organizes various programmes along with SFS Kannada Academy. Our chief guest Rev. Sr Celine came forward and declared the “Prayan 2016 – 17 Open” In due course Fr. Dr. Herold Christopher, the Principal concluded his speech by wishing all success to the enthusiastic and talented Desalites by stating “Never fear, when you fear a Fear, it fears you more, when you don’t dare to fear, it dares you more”
