NCC Village Adoption

On 23rd and 24th July, the NCC Cadets of SFS College, E-City, conducted a two day activity of ‘Village Adoption’. The chosen village was Chikkahosahalli of Anekal taluk, Bengaluru Rural (south) district. A total of 60 cadets, our ANO, one male and one lady staff of our college were present for same. The team stayed in a Government School at the village. At the outset the ANO conducted an inter-class game of Kho-Kho for the kids of the school to improve their morale. After their game, followed the prizes distribution for the winning team. Later a small demo of the drill was done by the NCC. This was followed by a motivational class given by our ANO for the kids about the importance of education and NCC.

An educational rally about ‘Community Development’, ‘Women Harassment’, ‘HIV/AIDS Awareness’, ‘Drug Abuse’ and ‘Importance of Education’ was done inside the village for the public. The team rallied through the entire village holding placards and shouting slogans to create awareness.

After the rally, followed the activity of ‘Swach Bharat’. We cleaned the School we stayed in and also cleaned up its surroundings, the center of the village, the main Temple and the road connecting the village to the school. Later the team engaged in planting few fruit bearing saplings inside the school premises and outside as well.

After a small puja, we started our final activity of the day, beginning with a motivational speech by the ANO regarding NCC and the purpose of this team’s visit to all the villagers and especially the youth. It was followed by an educational street play on ‘Women Harassment’, ‘Drug Abuse’, ‘Health and Hygiene’ and ‘Importance of education’ for the residents of the village. It also included motivational videos, comedy skit, a patriotic song and a questionnaire round only for the villagers. All the villagers actively participated in the event and those who answered correctly were awarded prizes by the village head along with our ANO.

The following day our PT Parade started sharp at 6:00 a.m. We ran 4KM and did our exercises followed by Yoga. A door to door survey was the last activity conducted.

The cadets were divided into four groups and were asked to go in different directions to cover the entire village. The main motive of the survey was to know the complete population of the village and to know the literacy rate. We also planted fruit bearing samplings at each house as a part of the ‘Vanamahotsava’(tree plantation) initiative.

Finally to evaluate the two day camp at Chikkahosahalli was a huge success and was a great experience for all the Desalites. We like to thank our CO, AO, Principal, ANO, College staff, Ex-cadets and the village residents for making this event a successful one.
