Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations- 02.10.2016

Being Sunday and being the day of the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, DeSalites organised a programme to honour the father of our nation. DeSalites who were into NCC, NSS, KCD and other volunteers gathered in the college at 08.00 hours.

The Pushparchana (honouring with flowers) began at 08.15 hours. Prof. Karibasavana Gowda, the NSS officer welcomed the gathering and introduced the importance of Gandhi Jayanti. This was followed by floral honour to the portrayal of Gandhi by Fr. Dr. Herold Christopher, Prof. Karibasavana Gowda, DeSalite Karthik, DeSalite Shwetha and DeSalite Moses. Later Prof. Karibasavana Gowda invited Fr. Dr. Herold Christopher, the principal of the college to address the gathering. Fr. Dr. Herold Christopher addressed the DeSalites inviting them all to be truthful in life and to imbibe the patriotic spirit of Mahatma Gandhi and not to be misled by fanatic forces that divide the nation on caste, Creed, and regional basis. Gandhi fought for freedom of India and as youth we need to fight for the freedom of truth and justice from vicious politicians.

The event concluded with a moment of silent meditation followed by singing of the national Anthem. Sweets were distributed to the DeSalites who gathered for the event.

Later vehicle was arranged to transport those DeSalies who were to take part in the Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations at the University premises, at Gandhi Bhavan.
