Report of Women’s Cell Awareness to Prevent Ovarian and Breast Cancer

A session on “AWARENESS TO PREVENT OVARIAN AND BREAST CANCER" was organized by Desalite Women’s Cell on 5th August, 2016. The one day programme was conducted for Final Year Girls of St. Francis de Sales College. The Chief Guest and Speaker of the day, Dr. Anita Mohan – Gynecologist, Fortis Hospital, gave an excellent explanation on breast cancer. She has explained to the students, the symptoms and preventive methods to avoid the cancer.

Mrs. Joyce Jayasheelan, Counsellor, Fortis Hospital, was the Guest of Honour of the session. She addressed the gathering regarding breast Feeding to the baby and its advantages through a Power Point Presentation. She explained the essentials of breast feeding the baby, and also the right position of mother, while feeding the baby. She explained the ill effects of feeding the baby in a wrong position, which in turn affects the baby. Moreover the importance of breast feeding was also emphasized.

Mrs. Hima Bindu, the Manager, Nest Fortis Hospital, another Guest of Honour supported the session with interaction and selected Best Six girls among the Desalites. The selected Desalites were honoured by Dr. Anitha Mohan.

The doubts of the Desalites regarding breast cancer were clarified by the resource persons. The feedback received from the Desalites were good. The Guest and the Guests of Honour felt extremely happy about the sessions and the seminar.
