INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION 2016

70th Independence Day was celebrated SFS College on Monday 15 th August at 08:00 am. The Chief Guest for the day was Rev. Dr. Ambrose Pinto SJ, the Principal of St. Aloysius College and the Guest of Honour was Mrs. Dr. Nirmala Vaz, Professor in chemistry, Jyothi Nivas College, Autonomous. The programme formally began with a prayer song followed by a welcome speech. The flag hoisting was done by Rev. Dr. Ambrose Pinto accompanied by Dr. Nirmala Vaz and Dr. Herold Christopher, the Principal of our college at 9:30 am. Further Fr. Dr. Herald Christopher, the Principal, SFS College addressed the gathering. A brief introduction was given to the chief guest followed by his address and the Guest of Honour also addressed the gathering. Fr. Dr. Ambrose spoke about the freedom that we still need to fight for the liberation of the Dalits, the poor, the women and the marginalised. The March Past was done by the students from four different groups Astros, Marines, Biogens and Terrestrians with complete dedication and seriousness since it was being judged by the honourable guests of the day. Dr. Ambrose received the guard of honour from the marching groups. Thereafter in accordance with MHRD all the faculties and students sang the National Anthem at 11:00 am.
